Kidsafe says Child Safety Increased with Pay and Pump Strategy

Kidsafe Victoria today said the pay and the pump strategy to stop petrol theft had an added bonus of increasing child safety.

Melanie Courtney, State Manager of Kidsafe Victoria said lone parents travelling with babies or small children and need to fill up with petrol are often caught between leaving their children in their car or taking them in to the service station to pay.

The pay at the pump facility allows the parent to fill up and pay whilst standing with the vehicle.

KIDSAFE recommends that parents/carers never leave children alone in a vehicle at any time. Not only does the temperature inside a vehicle increase rapidly, but there are also risks of having the vehicle stolen as we have seen again recently.

Kidsafe supports the Victorian police in having pay at the pump systems at service stations
