Find-A-Fitter

Child restraints can be tricky. Evidence suggests that up to 70% of child restraints in Australia are fitted incorrectly and having an incorrectly installed child restraint increases the risk of serious injury by up to 7 times in a crash.

The best way to ensure your child restraint is installed correctly and that your child is as safe as possible, is to have the seat fitted by a professional. But how do you find a credible child restraint fitter in your area?

Find-A-Fitter is an online database of credible Victorian child restraint fitters that adhere to Kidsafe Victoria’s strict criteria. Type in your suburb and postcode, or use the ‘Locate Me’ function to the find the fitting service closest to you: www.findafitter.com.au

The Find A Fitter website also has useful information on what to expect when visiting a professional child restraint fitter and links to resources to help you continue to choose and use your child restraint correctly.

Meet Graham

Graham might look strange, but he is the only ‘person’ who is built to survive on our roads. The TAC created Graham to demonstrate exactly why the human body isn’t equipped to survive a car accident.

Unlike Graham, we do not have reinforced ribs that can protect our organs, or an extra thick scull to protect our brains from the impact of a car. Unlike Graham, we have necks that can break.

The TAC hopes that Graham will create discussions about road safety and what we can do to curb Australia’s growing road toll.
