Each day in
Australia, 5 000 children require medical attention, 170 are admitted to hospital and one child dies - all as a result of unintentional injuries.
Most of these injuries occur at home and at school.
National Kidsafe Day aims to raise awareness of the leading causes of unintentional injuries to children less than 15 years of age and encourage strategies to prevent them.
This will be held on
20th October, 2008, the Monday of Children’s week. Events will be held in support of the day in
Carlton,
Geelong (with the support of Safestart Geelong) and Casey (with the support of Safestart Casey). Event details are as follows:

Kidsafe ‘Fun’ Day in Casey

SafeStart will be hosting a Concert in support of National Kidsafe Day, featuring performances by primary schools from within the City of
Casey. This event is designed to raise awareness of the leading causes of unintentional injuries to children and to engage teachers and children to help prevent injury in a positive and fun way.
It is going to be a thoroughly enjoyable and educational morning for parents, staff and students. As well as performances from the kids, there will be live entertainment from a children's entertainer, and special appearances from Tortoise and Buddy, the SafeStart mascots. All children will also receive a show bag.
