Community Safety Day at Docklands is an initiative of the Melbourne West Police and Community Consultative Committee (PCCC) and forms part of the Community Safety Month (CSM). With a strong emphasis on child safety both in the home and the community, participating organisations and emergency services will provide interactive displays, safety information and the opportunity for the general public to get up close and personal with a variety of service vehicles and on water craft.

The event is FREE and open to the general public from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm on Sunday 26 October 2008.

The event is expected to attract upwards of 30,000 visitors.

Each day in Australia, 5 000 children require medical attention, 170 are admitted to hospital and one child dies - all as a result of unintentional injuries.

Most of these injuries occur at home and at school.

National Kidsafe Day aims to raise awareness of the leading causes of unintentional injuries to children less than 15 years of age and encourage strategies to prevent them.

This will be held on 20th October, 2008, the Monday of Children’s week. Events will be held in support of the day in Carlton, Geelong (with the support of Safestart Geelong) and Casey (with the support of Safestart Casey). Event details are as follows:
