The theme for this year’s National Kidsafe Day 2011, held on Tuesday 25th October, is Road Safety.

ACTIVITIES

1. Launch

Kidsafe Victoria will be hosting a launch with our partners on National Kidsafe Day, focusing on Driveway Safety issues.

We would like to issue a warm thank you to the TAC Community Grants Program and Holden who have made the launch possible, as well as provided funding for further resources for the campaign.

The launch will be held in Fed Square with the Minister for Children, The Hon Wendy Lovell, and the Child Safety Commissioner, Mr Bernie Geary joining Kidsafe Vice President, Robert Caulfield.

Stickers and posters can be ordered from the office via the downloadable resource order form

2. FREE Child Restraint Checking

Kidsafe Victoria are pleased to advise that Hire for Baby have offered to provide free child restraint fitting to the community at various locations around Victoria on National Kidsafe Day.

Research has found that a correctly fitted child restraint can reduce the impact of an accident by approximately 70%. The free child restraint checks on the day will ensure that restraints are correctly fitted and that children are travelling in the safest possible way. Kidsafe Victoria will be providing educational child restraint resources for all attendees to take home.

All safety checks are carried out by professionally trained fitters and members of the ACRI who are fully insured as restraint fitters. An installation report will be provided.
